Glad to see that you are monitoring the CATLEY-L traffic.
That is a really strange coincidence to be sure,
The name Cat*ley does not sound Scots to me in any dialect, not
not even when spoken by a Scot!
Seemingly however it does to some?
I wonder if the New York Census clerk in 1900 and your
Immigration Court clerk in 2005 made the same error and if so,
what was it?
