Hi Tim,
Many of my Catleys went to Canada in the 1800's.. but this name
doesnt look familiar. Maybe he came from London, went out there, married
and came home with family? On holiday?? Is there a Canadian census you
can find them on??
Which reminds me, there are a few 'Catleys' on this website
which is arrivals at Ellis Island / New York (N.B. search separately for
Catt and Cat)
..also..
a relative who signed up for the Canadian Expeditionary Force (WW1), there
is a website
and you can view the actual document
As for Kensington being fashionable.. I had relatives living in Kensington,
and they
were 'bus washers' and 'laundresses' ... mind you, I suppose the servants
had to live
somewhere...I think around that time Kensington became posh and my lot found
themselves in Notting Hill.

Thanks for that Kay,
You make me feel a tad better. Perhaps if it had been annotated n/k I
would
have sussed it myself!
Am now even more curious as to who this John Cattley could be? He is not
one of my lot who were great travelers, so which other Cattley clan I
wonder and why come (back?) to UK and reside in Kensington?
Kensington at that time was most fashionable and thus expensive and so
John
must have "made good" in Nova Scotia or come from a family of means
possibly.
I can not find an entry for his death in the Coveney BMD's post 1881 which
makes me even more curious still!
Regards Tim
