Tim,
'Guess you will have these details of this 'Amos Catley'.....
1871 Aldershot, Hampshire
2nd Battalion 2nd Regiment, Cheshire Regiment
RG10.818.65.p32.~12
Amos Catley . unm . 25 . Private . York Garforth
Has anybody got a lead on a James W Catley born Leeds circa 1863, son
of Amos
Catley?
Amos and his wife Sophia lived in the Leeds area but in the early 1870's
immigrated to Pennsylvania USA and then moved on to Kansas.
Son John seems to have been quite a lad having worked on railway line building
in both Australia and the USA, somwehere along the line he returned to the UK
and married here and then returned to the USA for good. He worked for quite a
number of "Railroads" including The Rock Island Line.
He finally became a storekeeper in Rosedale Kansas.
Have found his gt grandaughter in the USA who would like to know more about
her UK roots
