Hi Tim & Joan,
I haven't had much luck finding out about Corral & Co, though one
directory shows they once operated in London Road Hove. They were
still in existence in Hampshire in 1966 because the National Archives
hold their minutes up until then. I have found most of them in the
various censuses on Ancestry (see below) but Thomas was away from
home in 1891 and if he is listed then they have his name garbled and
I haven't thought up what it could be. Frances the mother died
before 1901 and I can't find Frances E. anywhere in 1901 - maybe they
both died as Thomas was living in a boarding house on his own then.
Given the census data their dates of 1871 to 1890 may be right. I
haven't thought to look in institutions or hospitals and indeed I am
not sure how to do that with Ancestry data; maybe he was even in
debtors prison having gone bankrupt ?????
Seems unlikely though as the women still had two servants.
Incidentally Joan, if you are home <grin> I have found the
certificate for the Circus Performer - he was Edwin James WYLIE - I
have written to Barbara Neesh in Bermuda to see if she knows who he
is. Hope you and Morris are well. We are fine but a bit at sixes
and sevens as we are trying to de-clutter the place a bit. Amazing
what you find when you do that!
Love... E

Erica and Joan,
I have had an email from Imperial College, London concerning the
above member of our Tree who they have netted in a research project
they are doing.
Seemingly Thomas was the proprietor from circa 1871 - 1890 of the
Sussex based coal merchants Corrall & Co.
ICL are keen to know if we can add anything by way of information on
this family business.
>From the family records I know that he was born in the Lambeth
area and died at St Pancras and the PRO records confirm that he was
living in Brighton in the 1870's as both his daughters were born
there. Have not located him on the 1881 Census.
Have you got any interesting data that could be sent to ICL?
Best wishes Timcatt
