Hi there,
There is a booklet in the Wellington City Library
http://whekenui.wcl.govt.nz/cgi-bin/cw_cgi?fullRecord+29441+2540+526702+1+2
entitled "Jean Scott McIsaac and Dixon Catley. A Family History" by John
Catley Wellington 1984 which includes information about the family pre and
post NZ arrival. Many years ago the author was in correspondence with my
great aunty, and established there was no (close) family connection. As its
topical to talk about rugby, one of Dixon's descendents, Haswell Catley, was
the great All Black Hooker
http://stats.allblacks.com/Profile.asp?ABID=140.
As I said above, I can't claim him as a descendent. My father and 2 brothers
were quite useful rugby players. Our six yr old is chomping at the bit to
play and desparately tries to stay awake to watch the ABs play their games
in the World Cup in the middle of the night, NZ time.
I dont know if there are any descendents of Dixon who are members of this
email group. From memory there is at least one descendent of the Catley who
arrived on the Hurunui who I have emailed with, a woman.
So, is doing a tally, there appear to be number of different Catley lines in
NZ:
1. Zachariah Catley - Anne and I
2. Dixon Catley's line
3. Dennis Catley's line
4. the Hurunui line, maybe this is Allan Catley's line going by the date in
your recent email
5. Kay Heath's line
Regards
Jocelyn Prvanov
