Hi Mick ,
If my memory serves me correctly , the Catley estate near Linton/Lynton had
farms on both sides of the Essex /Cambridgeshire border.
Sorry I did not take any notes and cannot remember where I dug that
information up from.
An A2A search for Essex and Cambridge archives might yield something
.Regards Dave Barker

Subject: [CATLEY] Catley, Linton, Cambridgeshire
I did a Global Keyword search for "Catley" on the UK
Archives Index
at
www.a2a.org.uk and received 333 records. I noted there are several
entries dating back to the early 1700s for Catley near Lynton
(Linton), Cambridgeshire. Does anyone know if this place name is
derived from an estate owned by a Catley family?
Regards,
Mick Catley
