HI Michael, and all
Unfortunately it has to be the male side with the test we are doing. You
haven't got a any Catley male cousin's floating around. It doesn't matter
where in the world you live. The kit comes from America and they will post
it anywhere, they accept all major credit cards for payment on a secure line
The only person who gets to know the results is yourself and me as well as
FamilytreeDNA of course. Its only when you get a match that they send an
email to both matches stating there is a match. etc.
If anybody wants to look at the results let me know as I can paste them and
send them to you, it doesn't give out names just results.

I know I am a member of the Norton St Philip Catley's (my maternal
grandmother) - is that any use? I have her tree well documented back a few
generations.
Only trouble I have, is that I live in Australia, Sydney.

Hi Liz,
I think you are referring to John Catley. He may be a full Frederic John but
he answers to John.
If this is he (knowing that "John" had sent a dna sample) then there is no
doubt about the Lincolnshire connection Liz as we are fully aware that Johns
roots are firmly in that County.
This new information rather tends to blow out of the water the neat theory
that all Cat*leys stem from a Lincolnshire central source who dispersed
South into East Anglia and thence to London and at the same time North West
into Yorkshire.
What we now really need is a dna sample from a member of the Anstey Cat*leys
from Hertfordshire plus a line known to be in the London/Essex area before
the Lincs/Yorks/Herts Cat*leys started migrating that way. Also a sample of
West Country Cat*ley is missing (Somerset Norton/Bristol etc) to complete
the known spread of Catley geographical "pockets".
Just how many separate individual Cat*ley trees are there? We will never
know the full count unless more Listers participate.
Regards, Tim Cattley

Hi All,
Just to put you in the picture with the latest results. Frederic John
Catley
is related to my dad and I would say this is from the Lincolnshire
connection. I've already informed you about Tim and Margs family being
related from Yorkshire. However we are not related to Tim or Marg.
Are there any other volunteers for different areas that can do the test
and
maybe we might get another match. Heres hoping.
Liz
