Hi Erica,
As you well know, St Dionis Backchurch features strongly in the history of our Robert
Cattley of Lime Street (1749-1795) as all his nine children were baptised there, but more
to the point, both he and his wife Frances Cattley (1758-1816) plus their eldest child
Stephen (1781-1806) were buried in a family vault in St Dionis.
You are also aware I know, that St Dionis ( a Sir Christopher Wren built church) was
demolished in 1878 in part, to make way for the new underground railway system then being
built in the Fenchurch Street area of London.
What interests me is where the Authorities re interred the bodies from the St Dionis
site?
Have Googled about a bit but have not found anything positive as to history of demolition
or where the buried parishoners were re laid to rest or indeed if the individuals are
recorded as such?
There are suggestions that the St Dionis burials are now in Islington Cem.
What do you know of all this? Have you any information?
There must be Archives where such information is recorded but have failed to get any leads
so far.
Can you help?
Regards
Tim Catt
