Hello Kay M,
Are you still with us?
I ask because nothing heard for some time now.
I have you listed as researching William Catley b 1778 of Farndon. My notes say Farndon,
Northants but I think this may be a mistake by transcription error and that it should be
Farndon, Notts, close to Newark on Trent.
Would be obliged if you could confirm the location for me please?
The Nottinghamshire thought has been sparked off by researches that Liz C and Kay H are
doing presently into the Yorkshire Cat*leys of which there are many splinter branches and
they are having a right old time of fun and games managing to single down this rabbit
warren of Cat*leys by cojoining many of them together into just some four major Trees.
What has become obvious from their searches is that one previously thought to be
"solid Yorkshire" tree now appears to have emanated from Nottinghampshire in the
early 1800's and made a family move to Rotheram. Why, we do not know yet.
So: does a Joseph Catley of Walkeringham, Notts b 1803 feature in your searches?
We know that he married a Mary Sturton, when/where I am not yet sure but by 1831 the
couple were residing in Rotheram because that is where their four children were born.
Sarah b 1831
William b 1835
James b 1838
Charles b 1847
Would appreciate if you could cast an eye over your data and see if you can make any
connections?
Regards
Tim Cattley
