OK Liz,
Got it!
Have been thinking away all day about where Maria Head comes into the
equasion and if indeed she was an Barley/Barkway/Anstey Cat*ley marriage
member at all !
You know the situation: the harder you try to remember, the further the germ
of thought retreats!
When I got home this evening and read your email about Thomas b Barkway
circa 1806/8 it hit a button somewhere in the grey matter and I dived into
my 1987 paper files on Anstey Cat*leys and came up with the right bit of
paperwork within two minutes!! (Record!)
Back in the 1980's I made my first contact with a Barkway Cattley, her Gt Gt
Grandfather being a Thomas Cattley who m a Maria Head, she had got no
further back than her Gt Gt Gt Grandfather possibly being an Edward.
I am not going to name drop here on an open site as to her married name but
suffice it to say that she married a farmer in 1964 when she was a Valerie
Ann Catley (yet another example as to how the name changed from single to
double and back to single T spelling!) and has issue born in Kent in 1966
and Berkshire in 1969.
By the 1980's when I caught up with her, she was farming in Hampshire but
her husband was looking to sell up and move down to Devon and at that point
I lost contact more is the pity because she would be so pleased I know, to
see what we have been able to research out on the whole Barley Cat*ley Tree
since then.
From her 1987contacts with me, I can confirm that her Gt Gt GT
Grandfather
is indeed the Edward Catley b 1779 who was son of Benjamin + Sarah
(Fielding)
Thomas b 1806 or 8 m Maria Head in Barkway 28/8/1849 she b Layston in 1816
and they had a son Edward b 7-6-1850 bapt Barkway 9-2-1851.
I will add her info to my excel:- James Catley of Barley data and send the
mod to You/Sharon/Elaine and Mick.
It is another small step in gathering in the whole James Catley of Barley,
Tree genealogy which is proving to be a really interesting challenge just as
I predicted it would!
Have some comments to make on the latest revelation re the Charles saga but
will write about that tomorrow.
Hey! It is great being retired now....... no more those Sunday evening blues
thinking about work tomorrow. If the weather is fine I will be out in the
garden; if not will write to Dave M thanking him for his IGI/PC instructions
and also ammend my Barley Catley spreadsheet to send out to you etc.
Best wishes
Timcatt

I have Thomas being the son of Edward. Thomas was b abt 1808 Barkway.
We
have Edward b 1779 that would fit the bill. Son of Benjamin and Sarah
Fielding. Any thoughts on this.
