It is Glyn Catley and the award was MBE.
"Elsewhere, Glyn Catley, who has been a governor at Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos on Sea
for 40 years including as chairman of the board for nine years, is made an MBE "for
services to Further Education in North Wales". On his honour, Mr Catley, 77, of
Colwyn Bay, who is now one of 18 governors at newly formed Coleg Llandrillo Menai, said:
"I thought it was fantastic. I was very surprised and very honoured. I have been
involved in a lot of the development of the college." He is also a former chief
engineer at Dolgarrog Aluminium Ltd, and is trustee and life member of Colwyn Bay Rugby
Union Club." Daily Post (North Wales). Anthony

Subject: [CATLEY] Catley OBE
Glynis or any other "Emery Catley of MidsomerNorton" family tree members:-
During one of those "stumble upon" moments that we all have (dont't we?)I
have found who I think is the only recent Catley to be awarded an OBE and I think he is an
Emery Catley descendant.
The general level of interest in Cat*ley trees seems to have fallen off to zero nowdays,
at least that is the only conclusion I can draw based upon the lack of Rootsweb
correspondence and consequently I have been sailing a lone path these last 18 months doing
final research to the 60 different Cat*ley trees that I have resolved within my
"Master all Cat*ley Grand BMD database" . In consequence I have had nobody
(with the exception of John C of the Garforth Catley tree) from any of the major Cat*ley
trees who are Listers here, available to bounce latter years research off in an effort to
finalize things up to 2014 and so the last lap from 1900-2015 has been a solo effort and
thus unconfirmed by (dis?)interested parties.
Glenn Catley was awarded his OBE in 2012 for a lifetime of service to education being a
Govenor of the Coleg Llandrinio in Colwyn Bay in North Wales for 40 years and was quoted
in the awards reports as being age 77. His GRO dob is therefore almost certainly 4/4 1934
Newport, Mons which by my estimation makes him a son of Granville Catley and Florence nee
Bowyer of the Emery Catley tree.
Glynis, can you confirm?
Regards
