Hi all,
I haven’t been able to devote any time to Catley tree research over the past few years.
Thanks for the work you are all putting in, it’s appreciated.
Maybe in a month or two I would be able to get a DNA test done if it would help.
Bernie Catley is my cousin and he has already submitted the results of his test. As his
first cousin, would my test therefore be redundant? Please let me know.
Is there a website where I can look at the family tree of Thomas Catley and Jane Vizor?
Thomas Catley (the convict) only had Thomas named as his father on his death certificate.
No entry for the mother. He gives his birth place as Bath. His Certificate Of Freedom
gives his
birth date as 1817. It looks like you probably have the correct parents. I wonder why
Thomas the
Convict didn’t have his mother’s name on his death certificate? He was in a “Hospital for
the
Insane” when he died. Had he forgotten his mother’s name? Did he never speak of her to
anyone? Curious.
Thanks again
Anthony Catley

Good afternoon Liz,
I take it then that you are referring to Thomas Catley birth 29/06/1817
in the Holloway district of Bath, the son of Thomas Catley and his 2nd
wife Jane Vizor ?
Year and location look good for a fit with Bernie and Anthony's Thomas.
Did you find any Camertons known still living? They seem to have fizzled
out here in Westminster Ldn but then there was George Robert born 1906
Chester who went to Canada (emig Liverpool-Halifax N.S.1929) and possibly
married a Phyllis unknown according to Canada/US border crossings 1940.
Does Bernie+Anthony know about this or did I miss the excitement somehow?
