Thank's for the info David,
I rather suspected that Richard William Catley of Grimsby died Italy
24/05/1918 probably serving in the Bedfordshire Regiment but if not, then
certainly in the West Yorkshire Regiment, was one of yours.
Thanks to Anthony, we have his army Record of Service and from it, it is
confirmed that his father was indeed James Catley, formerly of 17 Duke
Street Grimsby but the ROS shows an alteration of address for Father as Next
of Kin from Duke Street to 18.Stanley Street (although it could be Shanley
Street)
Hope this is of help
Regards
Tim

Tim & Anthony,
For your records:
Richard William CATLEY's antecedents run as follows:
Born at Grimsby, LIN (or possibly Clee just outside Grimsby), he was the
son of
James CATLEY (of Caistor, LIN) and Elizabeth Emma PRAED (of St Ives,
CON).
His mother died at Grimsby in 1902 aged 50 yrs; clearly his father
remarried to
Margaretta ??? - a James CATLEY was married in the Grimsby RD in
1910,
however
FreeBMD isn't currently listing a 'Margaretta' for the
page number
associated
with the event.
I suspect this 'family' belong to me and John via the Kirmington Catleys,
but I
have still to verify this.

Before going farther with this are you quite sure about the long name?
Could this not be Richard William Catley whose address at enlistment was
17 Duke Street Grimsby (Service Records, Ancestry)? A Richard W Catley
Pte 57648 W Yorks R is shown as deceased on his medal card. This man is
found in a CWGC record from Montecchio, Italy which gives his date of
death as 24/5/18. Son of James and Margaretta Catley, of Grimsby.

This Catley member,
Is included on the St James, Grimsby WW1 War Memorial yet does not
feature in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission "casualties list".
He is shown as having served in the Bedfordshire Regiment.
Sharon and self are currently investigating two Barley Catley Tree
members who have their names on the Barley Parish Memorial to those
fallen in WW1, yet do not appear on the CWGC list.
With EWRW Catley this now makes three.
Can anybody identify this Yorkshire Catley and join Sharon in
communications with the CWRG as to why not identified and where buried?
Tim
