Hello Glynis,
Whilst groping around for information on Charles Catley RN killed in
action Battle of Jutland, May 1916, I came across the "Ships in Port"
section of the 1881 National Census.
This indicates that a Charles Catley age 15 was aboard HMS Royal Adelaide
as a trainee seaman at Devonport.
The GRO lists a Charles Catley's birth registered 1866 Clutton Reg Dist.
The Royal Adelaide list indicates boy Catleys home address as Radstock.
Does this make Charles a member of the Emery Catley of Midsomer Norton
Tree?
Regards
Tim
