Hi Liz,
Thank you for this confirmation re Charles Catley, Royal Marine Artillery,
Gunner.
As it happens, Anthony C has been most helpful (again) in assisting me in
finding out more on this Charles and has given me the vital link
(Yorkshire) which places Charles into the Robert Catley of Garforth family
tree.
Charles' grandfather was Edward Catley who married Martha Piper 13/08/1836
Swillington, Yks. This couples third child was Charles1 born Garforth, Yks,
1843 who married unknown and the result was Charles2 born 1868......... he
is the Royal Marine Artillery Gunner.
The Robert Catley of Garforth tree will not mean much to the rest of the
Listers but obviously will to yourself +Kay and now Anthony as well.
Have emailed Kay who processed the Garforth Catleys, informing her about
Charles1 as he does not appear on her data, neither his birth or marriage
nor (obviously) the birth of Charles2 either.
Anthony indicates that the 1901 census shows that Charles2 was married with
a Portsmouth address but I have not seen the details nor yet identified the
years of marriage and wives names for either father or son
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim
This Charles is also commemorated at Fulford War Mem. which indicates he
came from Yorkshire.
