Hello Anthony,
Could you please explain for me as to exactly what HALS stands for and where
it is located?
I assume that it is the Herts C.C. local history centre?
Would I be correct in thinking that it is located in an annex building at
County Hall, Hertford?
A local historian for North Hertfordshire, Tom Doig indicated to me in a
telcon a few months ago now that one of the staff at the local history
centre is herself a member of the main Barley/Barkway/Anstey Cat*ley Tree
and it occurs to me that she could be more than just useful!
Regards
Tim Cattley

Hi Elaine
The Hertfordshire Examinations Index shows further an Examination of
Sarah Catley at Barkway 5 July 1776. This is also at HALS under the call
number D/P13/13/3, probably the same as for the Removal Order. You may
need to get the document from the off site archives so allow time if you
visit HALS - or see if they will send copies to you.
I was able to work out the Wheathampstead Catleys largely due to the
information given at the Examination of Lydia Catley. Removal orders
tend to be more perfunctory.
Best wishes,
Anthony

Hi,
I have found on the Hertsirect website a search result for a Sarah
Catley on the Removal Index. She is being moved from Barkway to
Broadfield in 1776. Does anybody have any information on this? Also
does anybody know where Broadfield is?
Elaine
