Hi Tim,
You may well have this already but I spotted the
emapping Victorian Cheshire, Cheshire C.C. web site which shows a
Joseph Catley farming some 33+ acres, the property of Thomas Holland,
Township of Acton, Parish of Weaverham.
There is a good Tithe Map showing at least one of the fields that
Joseph was renting from Thomas, maybe more.
Thanks. I had already picked this one up and actually visited the site
earlier this summer en route for my annual pilgrimage to the Lake
District. Now a very attractive house still in extensive grounds
probably belonging to a businessman from Chester, Knutsford, Northwich
or Runcorn. Most of the fields marked on the tithe map are still there.
The Cheshire RO website has been a gold mine for researching my Newall
ancestors, all of whom were farmers.
Best wishes
Chris
