Sorry,
When I asked about Thomas James Catley it was in the expectation that it may
have been this E.Cattley's father; clearly from your last comments this is
not so.
However, I note that your Thomas b 05/04/1749 at Broughton by Brigg was one
of five children born to William and Catherine Catley of that Parish and
that Thomas and Elizabeth (Pinchard) had five children all born in Riby
between 1780 and 1787, which included two sons: Mark b 07/05/1780 and John b
21/11/1784.
Have you any further information on Mark + John that could lead us towards
linking up with the E.Cattley in New York in 1890?
Tim

It would be Thomas CATLEY b. 1749 April 5, d. 1821 November. Married to
Elizabeth PINCHARD on 1772 October 7 in Riby, Lincolnshire.

Hello Walter,
That sounds interesting. Either a bit of an error by the New York Times
reporter or a deliberate twisting of the facts by the accused E.Cattley?
That would be Broughton, Lincolnshire, not far from Scunthorpe then? I
see
that there was a Thomas James Catley with a birth Registered in 1839
in
Linton Reg Dist which could fit in.
However am not sure which Linton this could be.
Was your ancestor Thomas James Catley?
