Hi Janet + Erica,
OK got it, this is Liz's Zaccheus Catley of the Thomas of Ashby tree
(Lincolnshire) circa 1742. The maths is right and I see that Zacc was bapt
in Oct 1777 in Ashby Linc's, the son of Thomas and Mary Andrews.
It seems a bit of a stretch from Zaccheus through Machenes to McCattley but
with the mixture of persons in Canada/USA at the time, I suppose any
interpretation is (was) possible?!
Doubtless Liz will have chased down this road of search and can tell us the
full story?
Is there a Cat*ley line in Canada// America that stems from Zacc's
emigration ex UK?
Liz : can you confirm one way or the other?
The ref's to a Robert Cattley on the 1891 census concern a Stevan of
Normanton tree member who was Robert James 3 Cattley born 1845 Ontario, died
1916 Niagara, NY State, USA.
The other Cattley ref Janet :- must be for Stephen Robert Cattley also a
Stevan of Normanton tree member who resided in Stillington Yorkshire but had
two sons out in Canada and the eldest married there but I have this event as
1864 not 1856.
Erica :- do you think this is Stephen Robert of Stillington being at the
wedding of his son Stephen Thomas to Martha Sabina Adams ?
Cheers
Tim

The 1852 canadian census lists a "Zachenes?" Cattley, age 75, b. England,
painter in Perth town, Lanark County, Ont. Could this be Zacheus? I
could not open the actual census page to see the writing but it could be
misinterpreted.
In 1856 a Stephen Robert Cattley witnessed a marriage @ St. Georges Parish
Church, St. Catherines, Ont.
The 1891 census lists a Robert Catley, age 45, born Ont., Parents born
England, at Niagara Falls town, Welland Co., Ont.
He was a Railroad Baggageman., Methodist.
Is this too much information? I couldn't find any more about the Zacheus
in the Canadian sites.
