Hi Liz,
Henry Griffin was the 3rd child of William Cattley & Hannah (Garratt) the
first being MaryAnne b1817 then William Esdaile b1819 followed by Henry
Griffin in 1821.
The John Cattley you refer to (the one that Ann N got all excited about
because she thinks he looked (portrait) like one of her Hackney Catley line)
was not a brother to William (the Orchid) Cattley who m Hannah but his 1st
cousin who lived at Shabden in Surrey and m Frances Garratt. ie two Cattley
1st cousins married two Garratt sisters.
Correct on Step being Stephen as John of Shabden had both an uncle and a
first cousin named Stephen although it is more likely that it was the uncle,
who resided in Clapham.
Cheers
Tim

Hi All,
Am I correct in that Henry Griffin senior son of William and Hannah.
William
of St Michael Queenhithe married Hannah Garratt of St Mary Islington
11/5/1815 witness John Cattley and Joseph Esdaile. William being the
brother
of John Cattley who married Frances Garratt 8/5/1816 witnessed by Step
Cattley (presume thats Stephen) and Joseph Esdaile. If so who is William
Esdaile Cattley b 1819 son of?
Liz
