Hi All,
Does anybody have James and Jane in their tree. James was born about 1807 Hull. Did he do
his anprentice as a wood turner in the ship yards, then move on to stone and marble?
Its odd that this family came from Hull then some of them moved to Lambeth area. As my
Catley lot did. What was in Lambeth to entice them?
Liz
Liz: It was the son (Thomas) who moved to Surrey, at first to Newington,
and worked in stone. There is a Pigot's entry for 1828-9 in the Catley
database showing a James Catley, carver and gilder, at Doncaster.
