Many thank's David,
I must catch up with you sometime and see if you can help me append those
numerous Lincolnshire Catleys against the UK GRO records.
Your information about the John William who m Annie Fox in 1913 is most
useful relating to a Yorkshire connection and I think you may be refering to
a person who Kay and Liz already have on the Edmund Catley of Bilton Ainstey
tree.
John Brown Catley b 1843 Askham Bryan, a son of William + Elizabeth Brown m
Annie Hill in York in 1867. Had four children, the youngest being John
(William) who features in the GRO births for 3/4 1882.
From your input, it looks as if this is could be the John William who
m
Annie Fox.
Kay / Liz :- Can you have another look at the Bilton Catley's? We
may have another three generations and some 40 new names to enter here!

North Lincolnshire Council Website - Births / Marriages / Deaths:
Birth:
Year: 1884
Book Number: BA
Entry Number:
John W Catley
Marriage:
Year 1906
Book Number: C 6.2
Entry Number: 215
John W Catley
Alice M Simpson
The above events relate to John William Catley son of Charles & Maria
Catley of Goxhill, Barrow Upon Humber, LIN and then Sculcoates and Hull,
YKS.
These Catleys were descendants of the Wootton-Kirmington line to whom John
and I are related.
Then there is the additional marriage below...
Marriage:
Year: 1913
Book Number: C 8.2
Entry Number 285
John W Catley
Annie M Fox
I suspect that this John William Catley was born in York in c.1883 the son
of John Catley (a railway man of some description) who was born at Askham
Bryan, YKS.
I only have access to the free index of the 1911 census but I think the
above couple are to be found in York that year.
Perhaps some one will have further knowledge of these Catleys.

Subject: [CATLEY] Lincolnshire Catleys
This is probably best addressed at both Liz and David who are our Linc's
Catley experts.
I am looking at a branch of an unknown Catley tree which seems to have
proliferated during the 1914-1936 period in the Gainsborough / Thorne /
Scunthorpe area with a possible sub branch extending down via Hendon to
Bromley and Croydon.
There is strong evidence to suggest that the three generations that I
have identified stem from John William Catley b 1/4 1885 Glanford Brigg m
4/4 1914 Thorne, to a Miss Fox.
John William would seem not to belong to the William of Kirton or Thomas
of Ashby lines.
Have either of you got an identification on him?
Noted : that the birth's for Glanford 1875-1885 contain eight other
individuals some of which are very likely to be siblings.
