Thank you for the confirmation that George William and Ada Emily had just
three daughters (Elizabeth/Ethel/Gwendoline) and I am sure that I read
somewhere that Liz's s/father's father (Cyril Catley?) had been in
correspondence with Gwen and that she had indicated that her father (George
William) was the only surviving son on this tree, that married.
I wonder if either Liz or Sharon managed to tie in George Snr to any known
London or Wales Catleys?

Subject: [CATLEY] Gwen Catley
My M-i-L claimed Gwen as a cousin but I failed to make any
connection. My
findings were George W & Ada only had 3 children, all girls, Elizabeth A,
Ethel G D, & Gwen.
George W was a clerk in the leather trade, 1901, his father George was a
Chimney Sweep, 1891. 1905 Post Office Directory, Suberbs, Street, shows
George Catley & Son, Chimney Sweeps, 110 Harris St Camberwell London SE.
George's father was also George, Liz has George snr living North St,
Lambeth 1841, a Painter. So it looks like George snr might have given up
the painting to sweep chimneys.
I considered this as going far enough back to prove any real connection.
