Listers who have not yet done the Catley name familytreedna test will be unaware that once
you are "on their books" you get regular updates as to when new genetic marker
matches are found with others tested.
The basic test check is done at the 12 marker level and in my case it seems that I now
have 955 matches!
No great excitement here; I understand, it simply means that we all are of the same
haplogroup (R1B1B2) and belong to Western Mesolithic Man of some 10,000 years ago and
probably are all members of some sub-clan within it.
However, nine of these 955 people also match at the 25 marker level which is more
significant and gives a 99% chance of being a direct relative somewhere back before
surnames were used.
One of the 25 has the same surname (Cattley) and he also checks out as a direct match at
the 37 marker level. This is John David in the USA who we know is a member of the Edmund
Catley of Bilton Ainstey tree.
