Hi David,
Using the NSW BDM site Chris has given you try a death search. The parents
are given, which presumably you know, & this might help lock it into a
district.

Subject: [CATLEY] [Catley] Australian Immigration
As the list is a bit quiet at the moment I hope you wont mind if I
slip
this non Catley query in.
It's really addressed to our Australian listers for some local knowledge
concerning immigrants.
I'm trying to trace what happened to my great grandfather who on paper
went missing in 1906 after my great grandmother divorced him.
Suffice to say available UK records have drawn a blank - as have US
databases on Ancestry.
A relative is now telling us of a story in their family circle suggesting
he went to the States in 1911 - but, as outlined the US angle returned no
trace.
However, I have found a potential match for him, or I should say a man
bearing his full name is listed on the 'New South Wales, Australia,
Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists' for 1911.
The passenger list records he was an adult and British, that he was
accompanied by a 'wife' (only surname entered) and a son (full name
recorded).
I have the name of the ship and date of arrival in Sydney.
So here's my query - given this rather sparse information, is there likely
to be any further record I could seek out covering their 'immigration' in
1911 which might help me identify whether or not he was my great
grandfather?
