The 'Henry' you refer to below married to Ann Holmes, was buried in Owston
aged 75 yrs.
There's a possible baptism match for Henry at Frodingham on 25 Dec 1750, s.
of Richard & Elizabeth Catley.
Alas no obvious connection with the Newark Catleys - but the possibility is
now on file following your posting.
By the way if you want to get a feel for the parishes mentioned, try:
www.maps.familysearch.org - the 'layers' option is handy - overlays parish
boundaries onto Google Street Map.
The link Catley links between Southwell-Farndon-Newark look pretty sound now
thanks to the available census returns for these individuals.

Hi David/Tim
I would be very, very interested in the Newark Pedigree as I have often
wondered if there is a link to the Newark CATLEY's but haven't managed to
find anything so far.
You recently sent a list of CATLEY findings from the Nottinghamshire
Guardian and I would like to claim the following entry as she is the
daughter of William CATLEY (born 1821 in Farndon, died 1865 at Normanton,
Notts). Elizabeth was the elder sister of Eliza Jane CATLEY.
~~~~~~~~~
pub. Jun 17, 1870 - Marriages:
At Salem Chapel, Stockbridge, on the 7th inst., Charles Darlton to
Elizabeth, daughter of the late Mr. William Catley of Southwell (Notts).
GRO - Jun 1870 - Wortley RD, West Riding of Yorkshire
~~~~~~~~~
I also have links to another CATLEY branch but haven't managed to find any
links between these two branches:
1. Eliza Jane CATLEY daughter of William CATLEY and Zilpha BELL, married
Denby COGGAN in 1876 at Sheffield.
2. Denby's brother George COGGAN married Mary CATLEY in 1868 at Doncaster.
Mary CATLEY (born 1841 in Owston, Lincs, died 1871 at Doncaster) was the
daughter of Samuel CATLEY born Owston 1795 and Mary ROE. I believe that
Samuel was the son of Henary CATLEY and Ann HOLMES who married 1783 in
Owston.
So, is there a blood link between the Farndon, Notts and Owston, Lincs
CATLEY's or is it a total coincidence that two brothers married girls with
the same surname? :-))
Best wishes
Kay (Milner)
