The marriage was at Hackney Parish Church on this date. Groom's father Joseph; father
and son are slaters. Bride's father Edward, labourer. Groom and bride signed the
register and the address of both was Grove passage (arguably consistent with a pregnant
bride). Anthony

Subject: [CATLEY] Charles Catley bir ~1829 Bow
Hi there,
I have run up against a problem. I have a Charles Catley bir ~1829 Bow mar
Elizabeth with a number of children in various census records.
In the spreadsheet there is a mar to Elizabeth Goodfellow mar: 17/12/48,
father Joseph. This marriage is 2 months before their eldest child was born:
and a birth
Charles Katley
bapt:05/07/29
1829
St Pancras Ldn
Thomas
Susannah
There are a number of people who have Charles born 1829 (even a date - 8
June 1829) and married to Elizabeth, and "their" children listed, but it
seems there are 2 Charles born about the same time.
Does have the evidence to show who is Charles' father please ?
Cheers
Jocelyn

I suggest the parents may have been Joseph and Ann Catley. He is the only Joseph Catley to
register a birth in East London around this period, viz. Rebecca Catley born 20 October
1817 baptized at St Dunstan and All Saints Stepney 20 September 1818. Father's
occupation slater as on Charles's marriage register. Residence MENT (Mile End New
Town). Was this one of your candidate's? I am very interested in sorting out East End
Catleys. Anthony
