The register is available on Ancestry (London Burials) and says 11 1/2 years. It gives yet
another profession for Charles, "a Farmer." Anthony

G'day Jocelyn,
Thank you for responding to Tim's email. Your information on the burial of
George 22/04/1827 is new information for me. His age, 11yrs 6mths
corresponds with Tim's baptism record from Marcham 10 Sep 1815. Therefore
I agree with your conclusion that the second record you have for the burial
of George, age abt 7 years, on the same day is an error. Do you have sources
for these records? I assume they were transcribed from the St Andrew's
Church register.
As for the father, Charles, I have him fairly well tagged. He was indeed a
farm labourer in his early years and it seems he had some skills as a pseudo
veterinarian. Veterinary Surgeons were not required to be registered and he
had no formal qualifications. My guess is that he treated farm animals at a
very basic level. He was variously described as veterinary surgeon, cow
leech and cattle doctor. His wife, Mary Ann Petty was recorded in the 1851
Census as born in the village of Kingswood, Wendover, Buckinghamshire. She
died in 1864 in Enfield. I have not been able to find a record of Charles'
and Mary's marriage.
George, recorded as a cattle doctor in the 1851 Census, was Hannah's
illegitimate son who apparently took over his grandfather's (Charles)
business when he died in 1850. He migrated to Australia with his family in
1855. The shipping manifest listed his occupation as "cattle surgeon". He
settled in Sydney and operated a hansom cab business before opening several
butcher shops in the inner suburbs of Sydney."
