Hi there Lynda and Tim,
Lynda, it would be great if you are able to clarify this for me, as I have
some irking memory that you had not established any link to show that John
bt 07/06/1777 was part of your tree.
Tim, I have had a very good look at the records for Hackney around this time
on
Ancestry.com and a few other site but unfortunately I have made no
progress. This is not helped by incomplete marriage records prior to 1800 in
Hackney. Is anyone able to point me to any on-line source that might shed
more light please ? Or maybe I will have to resort to getting fiches.
Jocelyn

Hi again Jocelyn,
From Lynda's reply dated 3rd October it seems quite clear that she
is
indicating that John bt 07/06/1777 is part of her Catley tree and assume
that she has managed to research back another generation since she sent me
her last tree work which started with:- " Joseph b 1783 Melbourn m
Elizabeth Burdette at Melbourn 09/02/1804. "
I am a little confused here because my lists suggest that Joseph's parents
were Joseph & Elizabeth whereas Lynda had not included any parental names,
and also my information suggests that the parents of John bt 07/06/1777 were
John & Elizabeth. There is also listed an Elizabeth bt 22/08/1779 and bur
29/08/1779 where the parents names are again given as John & Elizabeth.
Nodoubt Lynda will be able to clarify things for us?
Think that if I was in your position I would tend to believe the dna
evidence and go back to your Catley's earliest known confirmed event (
Rebecca Ruth Cattley bir 20/12/1803, bap 20/05/1804 St Johns, Hackney,
parents John & Elizabeth ......have I got this correct?) maybe a more
detailed search in the Hackney area may bring to light their marriage
details?
Recent Cat*ley research events that have paid great dividends have been by
Liz and Anthony "teaming up" and concentrating on inner London bmd's which
has resulted in a number of "stray" or "unaccounted" Cat*leys being
netted
into known trees, which includes Thomas of Camerton (Somerset) and Robert of
Garforth (Yorkshire) and I think that the Hackney and Shoreditch areas are
on their list of "to do's" so lets hope they unearth something useful, am
sure Liz will be keeping your John & Elizabeth in Hackney circa 1802 in
mind.
Regards
Tim

Hi there Tim,
Thanks for following this up. I would like to add this one to the list.
As you know I have always been interested in the marriage of JN CATTLEY
to
ELZ COULTON
17 AUG 1799 Shepreth, Cambridge, England. The only site this appears to
be on is
familysearch.org.
The names are right, so is the time, but the DNA says not ! Would this be
the John Bt 03/06/1777 Melbourn Lynda lays claim to.
Cheers
Jocelyn

Maybe I have missed something but I don't think Jocelyn has had a full
answer to her triple question, if so apologies.
1) John Bt 03/06/1777 Melbourn. Lynda has claimed this John as part of
her
Joseph of Melbourn Tree. That's fine Lynda but I have your lot starting
with Joseph himself Bt 1783..........please can you give me the link info
back to John?
2) John Bt 05/08/1776 St Peters, Leeds : father = John of Park Lane,
Leeds................this bod is an "unaccounted Catley" although I think
Kay Heath has a research interest in him.
3) John Bt 15/05/1778 Faldingworth, Lincs : parents William & Mary. Again
an "unaccounted Catley" although it is very likely that David Meredith or
Liz may have something here.
