Thanks Liz and Anthony
Bernie and I appreciate your help.
It would be fantastic to find some info regarding our
"bad" Thomas' lineage.
So far he has been a dead end.

Hi Bernie,
Ancestry has put some new data online Prisoners kept in Hulks. Thomas was accused of
stealing a pair of trousers and convicted 26/10/1837 in Bath. b abt 1821. There are 3
entries. He arrived on 4/11/1837 Ship Justitia at Woolwich transferred to Euryalas
25/11/1837 at Chatham then transferred to Fortitude 4/12/1937 at Chatham before going to
the Bengal Merchant 20/3/1838. According to records he was a laborer and could read and
write, he was also convicted previously and imprisoned it also states "he was bad in
every respect"
It just so happens that I live in Chatham. When I get five minutes I will go to the
archive centre to see if they have any further records. As my daughter is taking the 11
plus it will be next month.
