Anthony,
For what it is worth, there is a Herbert George Catley b 2/4 1884 Barton
Regis GRO. This fits in nicely with the Herbert George Catley b 1884 on
Glynis Browns "Emery Catley of Midsomer Norton tree". Glynis has HGC's
place of birth as Clifton, son of George Catley and Mary Jane Shearn
HGC appears to have m Ethel F Woodman in Bristol in 1921.
Cheers
Tim

Subject: [CATLEY] Herbert George Catley and others
I recall some previous correspondence about Herbert George Catley who went
to America and did well. Findmypast has today posted service records for a
person with this name born about 1882 and whose mother Mary lived at
Clifton. He had an older brother Charles. He served with the Dragoon Guards
in India and South Africa (after the war) and took 3rd and 2nd Class
Certificates of Education whilst serving with the colours. He signed up in
1900 and was "discharged by purchase in South Africa on payment of £25"
after serving for 5 yrs 232 days. There is more so worth downloading if
someone has him on their tree. There are about 7 Catleys and 1 Cattley in
this latest batch covering 1900-1913. They include Bertram Sydney Cattley
who I recall interested Tim, but the summary links to the wrong documents. I
have reported this. Anthony
