Thank you Elaine,
For keeping a watch on e-bay for Cat*ley listings, this is something I keep
forgetting to do so it is good to have you acting as a backstop.
The "Old West Riding" Yorkshire 5.2 Cattley, refers to the Stevan Catlay of
Normanton tree (1609) and one of its branches who were farming in Bramham
and then Stearsby / Brandsby area of Yorkshire.
This line has now died out but may not have, if Colin Cattley had not
drowned in the sinking of RMS Lusitania in 1915 by the German U Boat U20.
His brother Harry ran the family farm until his death in 1959 whereupon his
two daughters sold up and moved into sisterly retirement in York but have
since passed on in 2005 and 2008.
As it happens, I have owned a copy of this publication for some 20 years so
have no need of another but thank you for bringing the matter to Listers
attention.
Regards
Tim
