Have we ground to a halt on finding a connection between the Emery
and
Thomas Trees - definitely something for the agenda at the Trout Inn -
which
I assume is still scheduled for the 25th June ???

atMSN.
Dear all,
The on-line-parish clerk for Midsomer Norton emailed me the following;
"Are you a relation of Aubrey William James Catley? He features greatly
in the minutes of the Methodist Church that I have transcribed. In fact
he was in at the beginning, as it were, of the current edifice on the
High Street and managed to get the contract to build it too. He was a
steward and treasurer, so fully involved. He also built the Manse. This
chap died in 1910.
There were two Aubrey Catleys minuted as having donated money towards
the new chapel. A senior and a junior, not sure which AWJ was!"
Of course we know who he is, but unfortunately I've now severed my
branch from the Thomas tree and provisionally grafted it onto the Emery
trunk. But I'm sure there must be some of you out there that would be
interested in getting in touch with Cathy to find out more.
Regards
Andrew Hayes
