Looking at the list of children it is suggestive that James and Mary had
sons called Francis and George as did Joshua and Hannah. Possibly this
pair are the sons of the other James and Mary, not James and Mary
Townsend.

Andrew

Sorry to interject,
But whilst I have eight children for Joshua & Hannah nee Web, I have
the
spread of bapt's wider than 1764 and 1776
as follows:-
Thomas 1757
Joshua 1759
Susanna 1760
George 1762
Amy 1764
Francis 1767
Hannah(1) 1769
Hannah(2) 1776
This above, is from Glynis' Emery of MSN tree records.

Hi Liz - The Joshua who married Hannah Webb in 1756 was the son of
Emery
Catley , so presumably of the wrong clan.
I have them down for eight children between 1764 and 1776 but none of
them
called James. One daughter Amy was baptised in Jan 1764 then there
is
then
a gap until Hannah in 1769 so I suppose it is possible that there was
another child born in 1764 that we had all missed!

Hi Andrew,
You have made some good points and to be honest there where a lot of
Thomas
and James around at the same time. With regard to Elizabeth b 1795
prior
to
the marriage of James and Mary Townsend, she could of still been there
daughter even though she was born out of wedlock. Do you have a name
for
the
other Mary? It is possible that a James was born to Joshua and Hannah
Webb
who married 1756.
Let me know what you think.
Liz
