Hi Tim,
I am putting all my data onto Family tree as I had it all on paper. It's
been some time since I did it so I am rechecking it all.
James is becoming a pain in the butt as I have Another James and Ann Gregory
marrying in 1774 Kilmersden plus later on James and Ann Bitton 1813 and
James and Ann Saunders 1828. So whilst checking my work I am putting down
the parish they come under instead of MSN.
Bare with me.
Liz

Subject: [CATLEY] James Catleys in MSN
Morning Andrew & Liz,
I have been puzzling over the marriage of a James Catley in 1803 as
reported by both Phil Clements and Glynis Brown to be his 2nd marriage.
Phil quotes her name as Mary and Glynis as Martha.
The 1841 Census shows a James Catley age 77 living with William Carter 35
and his wife Emma 31 plus their children Josiah 7# and William 1.
There are records for a James Catley b 1764 marrying Martha Smith
24/7/1803 Radstock and resulting issue being Hannah b 1808 Emma b 1810
Samuel b 1815 and James b 1819.
Josiah# is shown as being bt 17/7/1833 the son of William Carter and Emma
Catley.
This information conflicts with Phils/Glynis' assertion that Mary/Martha
and James (his 2nd marriage) produced Charles 1805 Martha Jane 1806 Evan
Daniel 1807 and Betty 1809.
I think this leaves the way for James Catley bt 24/8/1757 son of
Thomas&Betty Kelson to have been the one who m Mary Townsend of Pilton at
Chilcompton 21/12/1795 and they sired all 11 children from Elizabeth 1795,
right through to Betsey 1809. This does seem to leave a bit of a hiccup
in "the baby production dept" between Aubrey b 1802 and Charles b 1805 but
this could have been a couple of miscarriages.
What do you think?
Tim
