Interesting Mick,
I had thought that Robert James Cattley (mis spelt as Catley) returned to
his previous occupation as a bank clerk in Gravesend but evidently the
ships
Manifest indicates differently.
Done some more checking and it seems that his wife Sophia Sarah died in
Paddington in 1867 not 1874 so he was around and about in the UK for
longer
than I thought and evidently did some gardening work in Surrey.
Yours truly has just had an income tax rebate so can now afford to join
Ancestry and look at the 1871 census!
