Hi there All,
I have found this within the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs website whom you order NZ B, D and M records through. It records all the B, D and M registered in NZ, up to 50 or 100 yrs ago depending on the record type.

Hi Tim- Coming from Petworth in West Sussex you are drifting too far north
for me. Banbury is just about on my limit.
Incidently whilst the comments you make about the pub being crowded out are
valid, I would have thought the same probably applied to any half way decent
venue on a sunny June day.

Hi all,
For those of you who intend to meet on the 7th June, please take note that we need to think a bit more carefully about a suitable venue that suits our needs best.
Last years get together at the Trout Inn near Oxford was a success, a fine location, good parking and lots of space to spread out in a congenial atmosphere.
However, we were lucky in that we chose a Saturday which just happened to coincide with The Cup Final which kept public numbers down.
This venue, on a Sunday in June will be packed out, especially if the weather is reasonable and we will be disappointed.
Please give some thought as to where we could meet.
The area which looks to be fairly "central to all" would be around the Coventry/Banbury/Northampton zone.
Has anybody got some suggestions?
If not, it may come that I will have to laise with John and we find somewhere closer to home in the Birmingham/Wolverhampton district.
Tim
Hi Chris,
Sorry, can you also ammend his death records as we have a double error
17/08/1868 DEA Bridger Cattley NOT Bridget!!!

Hi Tim.
I have managed to arrange my Hols for Tuesday to Monday, so should be able to attend the gathering on the 7th June. If that is the date we are arranging.
Best wishes
Elaine
Hi Chris,
Will you please make an ammendment to the database for me?
Currently showing the following:-
1836 BIR : Bridget Cattley daughter of Thomas Thompson and Elizabeth. Clapham Ldn. SHEILAWB
This should read as follows:
1836 BIR: Bridger Cattley son of Thomas Thompson and Elizabeth (Bridger). Clapham Ldn

Jann Parkes mentioned WW1 records at the National Archives of
Australia (NAA) found at:
http://www.naa.gov.au/
But they also have passenger records into Western Australia as well.
If you go to the search link Jann mentioned:
http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/ResearcherScreen.asp
You will see a link called "Passenger index" over on the right hand
side near the top, which allows you to "Search for passengers
arriving by ship in Fremantle and other Western Australian ports
between January1921 and 15 January 1950; or arriving at Perth airport
between 1944 and 15 January 1950."
There are 22 Catleys and 4 Cattleys in the list.
This might also be useful for someone.
By the way, you only need to created a log in and become a
"Registered" user if you want to pre-arrange availability of any
records you find to view physically on site at their North Melbourne
building. Using the site as a "Guest" researcher will give you all
the information available from an online search.

Hi all,
The following link is to the National Archives of Australia
http://www.naa.gov.au/
To make it easy for you this following address is the search site for WW1
Anzacs etc in Australia.
http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/ResearcherScreen.asp
Type in 'Catley' in the keywords (or name) box and click 'search'. This
lists the type and number of entries.
For Catley there are 63 listings in the Items section.
Click on 'Display' and you will see the list of 63 entries.
The entries which have 'view digital copy' on the left hand side can be
accessed.
I hope all that makes sense.
I have found many relatives searching these records as a 'Guest' researcher.
Cheers
Jann

Subject: [CATLEY] Red Cross WW1 Records
Announced this morning on the BBC News is the "discovery" of 20 million
record cards held in archives by the Red Cross in Geneva, concerning
soldiers who died in action in WW1.
Their existence seems to have come to light following research associated
with the excavation of a mass grave of ANZAC soldiers interred by the
Germans in France/Belgium.
Much of the information on individuals record cards is reported to be much
more detailed than that on Service Records (assuming that such survived
German bombing in WW2) held in the UK.
Seems that The Red Cross supplied copies of their records to the British
Government but that these were disposed of in one of the many "weeds" of UK
Gov't Archives!
The original Swiss held records are to be processed commencing autumn this
year and will eventually be made available for I.T.access.

I too caught this news item on the radio. I'm sure they mentioned that the
time and date of death was on record, along with where buried. I wonder if
'where buried' includes where 'first buried' as of course many of the fallen
were temporarily interned where they had fallen or at least very close to
where they had fallen, prior to later internment in a designated war
cemetery.

Hello Elaine,
The person you refer to is (was) Alexander Robert Cattley one of the Stephen
of Normanton tree.
He was an illustrative artist with The News Chronicle newspaper and his post
cards frequently come up on ebay.
Usually they are either his WW1 post cards (military humour) or his sets of
post cards featuring British Military uniforms at the time of the American
War of Independence.
Thank's
Tim

I knew, when I started attempting to get a meeting organised, that it was
going to be a case of "you can please some of the people, some of the time,
but not all the people, all of the time"!
Rightly or wrongly, my thoughts are that we should try this time, to
accommodate those who missed out last year but attempting any multi meeting
in the summer months is always risky, for obvious reasons.
The plea for June and a Sunday leaves only four choices and I went for 7th +
21st because they are the only two available to me. If either the 14th or
28th look more acceptable to the majority, then I will dip out.

Hello all,
I never cease to be amazed by what turns up when surfing Catley!
This time it was the words: catley reunion and having untangled myself from good old Bob Catley who pops up everywhere. I found myself on the web page for the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Houston, Texas.
Seems they have a:- Lady Catley Memorial Library!
To my knowledge there have never been any Catley/Cattley's who have any claim as being members of the aristocracy so am curious as to how our American friends manage to attach a Title to the Catley name?
Unfortunately the page on the Library's history has been pulled off line for reworking so I am none the wiser!
