Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Kay H has an interesting line of research with a possible but yet unconfirmed connection between the Thomas of Escrick line and the Stevan of Normanton tree.
Could you kindly make direct contact with her, cc Liz.C,Erica.H. and self.
The thought is that Thomas could well be my gt gt uncle.
Are you doing the dna test? I can not remember.
Cheers Tim
Hi Jocelyn,
Here is hoping that some of the other Listers who have been sitting on the
fence of dna test/no test will also be encouraged by the early positive
results to join us and have a go.
For some time now I have been sitting on a number of Cat*ley "mini trees"
where I have made contact with "unknown Cattleys" in the
Leeds/Wakefield/Lancaster/Stafford areas. Said persons gave me genealogical
details back to their limit of knowledge (circa 1840's in most cases) but
there the trail stopped.
However, now that Liz and Kay have turned their search capacity onto the
Yorkshire region, a number of these tiddlers have fitted into place with
their bulk capture which in total, now comprises a very respectable tree of
some three hundred names, which includes the Cattleys in Pennsylvania.
The dna testing done so far shows a positive connection between this
Pennsylvania branch and thus the whole "Edmund Catley of Bilton Ainstey"
Tree with mine, the "Stevan Catlay of Normanton" Tree.
This is a real gem of information and an encouragement for us to continue
searches for written evidence where without this knowledge, we may have
simply given up.
Regards Tim

Hi Jocelyn,
At the moment all I can tell you is that all markers matched except 2 and
they where only out by one digit.
As Marg's family and Tim's came from the same area roughly in Yorkshire they
must of had a relative that they haven't been able to track down yet which
would be the common link. This will need some close looking into. As we have
only just started to find Marg's relatives it will take a while but is
possible with a lot of perseverance At present I am trying to match Births
with the census and correspond them with the right parents birth and
marriages. Thus taking me back before 1837. This is a slow process but I
will let my results known to those who which to see it when I have finished.
Liz.

Hi there Liz,
Great news.
Are you able to give us more information as to how the 99% match figure was
derived ?

Hi All,
After playing the long waiting game for the results to come back. I can
confirm that Tim and Marg are related.
For those of you who dont know, Margs nephew did the test and we have a 99%
match. The question now is from whom are they related!!!!!!!!!
I am still waiting for other results to come in.
Will keep you posted.
Liz
