A Wikipedia search reveals that The Perse School in Cambridge (UK) has six houses and that one of them is named Cattley.
An obvious connection could be a patron or govenor or maybe a teacher from the schools early days back at the turn of the 19th Century.
Something from the past is ringing a very feint bell with me in that I think I should know the answer to this one but am fished if I can remember what it is.
Erica or David M are usually good bets as to be able to ferret out queries such as this,
any ideas?

Erica,Joan,Ingrid and any other listers interested in the Stevan Catlay (Cattley) Tree,
Re Oswald James Cattley 1850 - 1922.
I have discovered (that as he was a member of the Royal Geographical Society) there is an obituary to him in the Societies publication, The Geographical Journal.
The issue in question is Vol. 61 No3 dated March 1923.
Would anyone like to take on the task of seeing if the words from this article are available?
As you probably know, he spent most of his time in Russia and I have him recorded as a Consulting Engineer and Siberian explorer.
The "Obit" could put some interesting meat on the bones.
Regards Tim
>From the Internet:
Yorkshire Waggoners Special Reserve, Army Service Corps.
Edward Cattley age 22. height 68 inches. Place of Birth Bulmer, NRY.
No date or century given that I could see.
>From this Inventry list it appears that those included were carters.
>From my Cattley Public Records Lists, the only person who fits is
Edward, born 1889 Registration District: Malton, which is not far
away from Bulmer in the North Riding of Yorkshire.
If I am correct, then this is a circa 1911 list.
Anybody got a claim on this Edward for their Tree?

Hi All
This is my family , Ann is my cousin.
Hannah Hawls is really Hannah Hawes wife of Joseph Hawes a mariner whom she
married after the death of John Catley Barker.
She was John's second wife, born Hannah Normandale daughter of John
Normandale and Arrabella Richardson.
His first wife was indeed Ann Jackson
John Catley Barker was the son of William and Mary Barker of Scarborough and
was baptised in Gainsborough Lincs. in 1823.
This is where the trail goes cold .I have tried to find links with the
Barkers of Scarborough and Cayton to no avail.
Likewise the Catleys .
I have also looked for links with Barkers and Catleys of the Gainsboroughand
Scotter areas of Lincolnshire with no definite answer.
My other efforts have been in the direction of the children of William
Barker of Fowlmere Cambridgeshire and his wife Sarah Catley
but I have found no link so far.It is the proverbial stone wall any help
would be more than welcome
I will be of line for a week or so as I am going to the UK
Regards Dave Barker
