Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Am interested to see that my reference to DNA testing has sparked off a
small flurry of responses and indeed it is a pity perhaps that so many
criteria need to be fulfilled as Chris points out.
I was thinking that as there are numerous Cat(t)ley families still living in
the Yorkshire area from where my ancestors come, that it would be ideal in
theory, if DNA testing could be carried out to see if links exist. If they
did, then it would be invaluable information and make further researches
worthwhile.
Regards to all ...... Tim

Once upon a time, some 35 years ago, when I first got interested in my
genealogy, I thought that with the name being so unique, that it would be
comparatively easy to "link up" with other known Catley/Cattley trees.
I know better now! There must be around 60 individuals on Catley Rootsweb
all beavering away on their own researches but to my knowledge I do not
think that any two "main tree" researchers have yet managed to find any firm
connections which fit them together.
