Hi Pam --

If anyone has access to Lancaster Co., VA records, I am extremely
interested in any records for William CATLETT and Sarah CLARK. All I
have at this time is the following:
"On Oct 13, 1731, William and wife Sarah Clark CATLETT sue the estate
of John REEVES regarding her claim to the estate of her father Arthur
CLARK and her grandfather William CLARK (will probated 18 Jul 1708)."
I've got 6 books containing abstracts or transcripts of Lancaster Co.,
VA records. I don't see anything earth shattering in any of them, but
I'll attempt to post the entries this week. 13 May 1730 seems to be the
first date in which William CATLETT's name appears in the Lancaster
records. I believe that I saw him in another county's records in my
readings last week. I'll take a look at those books at first
opportunity and will post whatever I find.
Is the 18 Jul 1708 probate date correct? The date shown for the will
date of Arthur CLARKE is 2 Apr 1718 and recorded 11 Jun 1718 as shown on
p. 53 of Ida J. Lee's, ABSTRACTS LANCASTER COUNTY, VIRGINIA, WILLS
1653-1800. Perhaps the dates in Ms. Lee's book are wrong.
It is my understanding that this William was the son of Thomas and
Frances Hazelwood Harrison Catlett, who lived in Lancaster Co. til the
1730's. My interest is to find the ancestors and immediate family for
Hazelwood CATLETT, who had grandsons and other descendants who were
given a first or middle name of "Clark".
I'm looking. I'm looking. <s> Perhaps Duke Lowe has found something.
(Duke, are you lurking?) He and his wife have spent time in the records
of Lancaster, Essex, and environs.
