Hello Karon and list,

entries matching CRAB* or specifically CRABTREE. I'm sorry.
Thank you very much for checking again.
I went back and checked the only CD that I have that has Claiborne
Co.,
TN marriages. This is CD#229 "Marriage Records, Southern
States",
Vol
1. On that CD is the marriage of Fereby CRABTREE to John ---, 22 Jan
1842; his surname is given as 3 dashes/hyphens. There are other
CRABTREE marriages in that county, all within the same timeframe
(give
or take a few years). No CATLETT marriages there. <sigh>
That's the one I believe to be my John Catlett. <sigh>
Nearby neighbors near the CATLETT household. Any CRABTREEs nearby?
In determining where your John fits in -- knowing his neighborhood
may
lead to his origins. Families often moved from one place to another.
It'snot the easiest way to research, but sometimes it's the only
method
left.
Thank you for this tip! This may be the only way to trace Johns
origins.
Nearby neighbors in 1850 KY. were:
GRINDSTAFF's, KY.
MESSER's, KY., SC.
POWELL's, KY., NC.
GRAY's, SC.,NC.
SIMMONDS', NC., TN.
No CRABTREE's
In 1860 nearby neighbors in KY. were:
SMITH's, TN.
EPPERSON's, TN.
WORD's, KY.
HENSON's, KY.
MESSER's KY
ARTHUR's, KY.
SIZEMORE's, VA.
I'm not that familiar with the TN counties (except for a couple).
How close is Sevier to Claiborne?
Sevier Co. is about 40-50 miles from Claiborne CO.
Thanks for this tip too.
I may know one or two people who were
researching Catletts in that area. I'll have to check some old, old
e-mails --
I would appreciate any name or address you can find! And I'll try to
reach Tim and Lee!
I asked because I have a Phariby Garrett and I've heard that women
with this name hail from a Feribee (and variant spellings) in colonial
NC.
But...that's getting off topic. <s>
I'm impressed...even if it is getting off topic! <s>
Thank you for all your help Karon, I really do appreciate your
kindness.
