Hi John --
You wrote <in part>:
If any one is trying to find Catletts in the upper Northern
Neck. let me
know. Several years ago I abstracted the pre-1830 Personal Property Tax
Rolls for most of Northern Neck counties west of the Blue Ridge. I will be
willing to do a few look ups.
I'm very interested in anything you might have on David and his George
CATLETT. David had real property in Morgan Co. and I think that George
might have as well. Given that they had real property, I'm thinking
they may have had personal property as well. Counties would probably be
Frederick, Morgan, Hampshire in the period 1790-1830. George wound up
in Allegany Co. Maryland sometime prior to his death in August 1854.
In my own search for David and George, I really doubt that David died in
Covington Co., KY in 1834 as reported by Stubbs. (I wonder if David's
pension payment was paid out of a government office in Covington, KY,
thus the reference to it at all). David made several land purchases in
Morgan Co. (on the Potomac River) in 1832 and 1833 and his widow
received pension payments in VA, not KY. If he died in KY, then I would
guess he was there on business or visiting with relatives.
Also, there was a William CATLETT enumerated in Allegany Co., MD in
1820, I believe (may have been near the LANTZ family whom George
married). Do you have any idea who he might be?
The only two children attributed to David and Ann CATLETT are George and
Dorothy (or Dolitha) who married John CAMPBELL. There is 7 year gap
between births, so I wonder if David and Ann might have been the parents
of William (above) and perhaps the Alexander you mentioned in a posting
earlier this evening and perhaps others, as well. Your thoughts?
Thanks for your help!
