Re: Karon's post on the website mentioning "William Catlett", any idea if
the bells were made as a memorial "after" the person died or made with
contribution "by" the person? I think William Catlett, son of Thomas and
Elizabeth Thatcher CATLETT, died about 1678/79 -- about 8 years before the
bell inscription. If made in memorial to the dead, I wonder who paid to
have the bell made.
The two younger children of Thomas and Elizabeth Thatcher CATLETT, William and
John, died after 7 Jan 1678/9. I based that date, I believe on the probate
date of Thomas' estate. Don't think Avant provides a death or burial date for
them.
Of course, he could be son of Thomas and Judith, but didn't know
they had a
son named William. That doesn't mean they didn't though.
They did. He was apprently still alive when his father's estate was probated
in Apr 1648. Now, whether he was alive 30 years later...I dunno.
Sure would like to know about this particular family -- especially
Thomas
(b.abt.1659), son of Thomas and Elizabeth Thatcher CATLETT. Until I rule
him out, he could be the Thomas who shows up in Lancaster Co., VA records in
1698. Any ideas?
I'll post what little I have for this group in a separate message.
