Hi Elreeta --
Thanks for your postings to the CATLETT GC Board this past weekend. I have a
question or two regarding the marriage data you provided for Elizabeth
UNDERWOOD's marriage to John CATLETT.
You wrote <in part>:
> 2. Col. John CATLETT, Sr., born about 1624, Canterbury, England, married

> married (2) 01/14 January, 1663, in Rappahannock County, VA, Elizabeth

> 3. Elizabeth UNDERWOOD (TAYLOR) (SLAUGHTER) born
VA,8 married (1) divorced

> Elizabeth married (3) 01/14 January, 1663, in
Rappahannock County, VA,7
> Col. John CATLETT, Sr.
> Elizabeth married (4) 20-Apr-1672, in Richmond County,
VA, Rev. Amory BUTLER,
> Elizabeth died 1673, Rappahannock County, VA, Will
probated, on 7 Mar-1673

Do you have a source for the 1/14 January 1663 date and for the marriage place
([Old] Rappahannock Co., VA)?
Marty Martin provided his GEDCOM file to me several years ago and in it he had
a date of before 5 Jan 1654 in Rappahannock Co. I don't think I asked him
where he found that marriage date. He provided the data prior to the boon in
Internet usage, but I do think he has a Web site (FamilyTreeMaker perhaps). I
will see if I can locate an e-mail address for him and ask him about the date
he provided.
The date I've gone with is circa 1657, based on the 1658 birth date provided
for the son, John CATLETT [II] in the Stubbs' publication (TWO VIRGINIA
FAMILIES TRANSPLANTED...) (p. 15).
I'd like to add or change one thing to what you posted. I believe I have a
copy of the Rigsby book you mentioned in the last sentence of quoted material
above (HISTORIC GEORGIA FAMILIES). Rigsby wrote in that book, on p. 96,
column 2, "(Elizabeth Underwood was one of the step-daughters of Capt. John
Upton of Isle of Wight County...)". Probably just a typo, but wanted to offer
a correction for those with a keen interest on this group of early Virginians.
Your insight and input is appreciated!
