For Bobbi Garrett (who is trying to connect her g-grandmother to
proper
CATLETT family):
Your g-grandmother, Nora Ellen Susan (I had her only as "Susan"), married
Joseph J. BRADLEY on 11 Oct 1883 in Walker Co., GA. She is the daughter of
John David CATLETT (b. 15 Jan 1839, GA; d. 20 Nov 1930 probably in Upshur
Co., TX) and Mary L. MANGRUM (b. 22 Nov 1833, GA; d. 5 Oct 1917 probably in
Upshur Co., TX). John David and Mary L. married 21 Aug 1856 in Jackson Co.,
GA. From Vol. II, p.534 of Lillian Henderson's ROSTER OF THE CONFEDERATE
SOLDIERS OF GEORGIA, 1861-1865: "Co. G, 16th Reg't GA Vol. Inf., Jackson
Co., GA, (Jackson County Volunteers), local designation also given as
Jackson Rifles and Oconee Volunteers..."
Listed as CATLETT, John D. private March 1, 1862. Wounded at Cold Harbor,
VA June 1, 1864. Roll dated January 30, 1865, last on file, shows him
absent, wounded. No later record.
Family says John D. lost an arm during the war. History book on Catoosa
County shows Military section with John D. (J.D.) as being wounded in the
arm, requiring amputation.

J.D.CATLETT witnessed the will of Ransom Marlow on Oct. 6, 1870 in Jackson

John David CATLETT was the son of Clark CATLETT (b. abt. 1799 in NC or SC;
d. in Jackson Co., GA) and Frances <unknown>. Mary L. MANGRUM was the dau.
of William and Elsie <unknown> MANGRUM. Mary had a brother, William P, who
married John David's sister, Louisiana Caroline CATLETT on 8 Oct 1857 in
Jackson Co., GA.
Clark CATLETT was the son of Laban CATLETT (b. abt. 1761, NC; d. 17 Aug 1847
in Walker Co., GA) and Susannah "Succa" HALLEN (b. abt. 1769, NC; d. 21 Jul
1852 in Walker Co., GA). Laban and Succa were married 17 Apr 1790 in
Franklin Co., NC. They moved to York Co., SC in or before 1803 and then
removed to NE Georgia (Franklin, Habersham, Jackson Counties). Some of the
family stayed in that area, while some moved down to Walker County, GA.
>From there, parts of the family removed to Arkansas and some from there to
Upshur Co., TX.
I'll be glad to provide any further information if you will email me
directly. I descend from your Clark's brother, John.
