In her will, probated 7 March, 1673, in Rappannock Co., VA, Elizabeth
(Underwood) (Taylor) (Slaughter) (Catlett) Butler named her children:
1. Francis Slaughter, Jr.
2. John Catlett, Jr.
3. Elizabeth Catlett
4. Sarah Catlett
5. William Catlett
Executor and guardian of her children was to be her fourth husband, Armory
Butler with
overseers of Capt. Thos. Hawkins, Edward Rowzie, Sr, [half-brother of Col.
John Catlett, Sr. and husband of Mary Underwood--sister of Elizabeth
(Underwood) (Taylor) (Slaaughter) (Catlett) Butler], and Mr. Dan'l Gaines

Elizabeth Gaines-- who later became the 2nd wife of Col. John Catlett,
Jr.--listed as child #2, above.).

Hello to the LIGHTFOOT, UNDERWOOD, TAYLOR, TAYLOE, SLAUGHTER,
CATLETT,
JONES,
HUDSON, and GOODRICH, ASKE researchers:
Below is a speculative inquiry that I am making regarding the following
information. Please keep in mind that this is still only speculation and
that there are facts mixed with speculation here trying to sort out the
possibilities of the following and I was wondering if there might be any
of
you on these connecting lists that might have something to
substantiate or
disallow this possibility.
Is it possible that the often suggested Elizabeth TAYLOE/TAYLOR said to
have possibly married the 1st (Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, Sr., born: 1622
in
England, died: after immigration to Virginia from England,
immigrant
Bef./Abt. 1670 with his brother, Philip, (sons of Elizabeth PHILLIPS and
John LIGHTFOOT, Jr.,) MIGHT have been the Elizabeth UNDERWOOD,
born: Bet. 1630-1640/1632/Abt. 1632 in England, (daughter of
(Colonel) William UNDERWOOD, I/Sr.and his wife, Margaret ? and this
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD was also the sister of
(Colonel) William UNDERWOOD, II/Jr..)
This Elizabeth UNDERWOOD is known to have married:
(1.) James TAYLOR/TAYLER, M.D.,
born: Abt. 1610,
md: Bef. March 26, 1654 to Elizabeth UNDERWOOD,
and divorcing him, on March 26, 1654 and
Dr. TAYLOR/TAYLER died by May 1654.
(2.) (Captain) Francis SLAUGHTER, Sr.,
(md: Bef. May 1654,
had child?/children bet. 1654-1656,
he died in 1656,)
(3.) (Colonel) John CATLETT, II/Jr.,
(marrying in Abt. 1657
he died in 1670 & she in 1673,)
(4.) Amory BUTLER, (marrying him in 1671)
Knowing already that these families are connected, is it possible
that this aforementioned Elizabeth UNDERWOOD, born: 1632/Abt.
1632 in England, might have possibly married the aforementioned
(Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr. before leaving England and
immigrating to America? I don't know that the timelines for them,
their immigration, (other than our immigrants Philip and John are
said to have immigrated in Abt. 1670,) and the dates of the births
of the 2 sons of (Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr. all work. But in
my information that is shown the two sons of
(Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr., whom are shown as
John, III and Philip, are said to have been born between the years
of 1646-1648 and they immigrated with their father and possibly
their mother as babies/children Bef./Abt. 1670.
I may be totally out in 'left field' here but IF this aforementioned
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD who was born in 1632/Abt. 1632 in
England and married (Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr.,
born: 1622 in England, when Elizabeth UNDERWOOD was
about the age of 14-16 around the year of 1646.... and IF
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD was the mother of the 2 sons of this
(Captain) John LIGHTFOOT who were born between the years
of 1646-1648 then the family immigrating sometime during the
period between Abt. 1650 - 1654 with (Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr.
dying in Surinam in the West Indies in the Caribbean between that
time period of Abt. 1650-1654 after which the aforementioned
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD, (poss. Mrs. Elizabeth UNDERWOOD
LIGHTFOOT,) would have married for the first time in America to the
aforementioned Dr. James TAYLOR/TAYLER.......is this possible?
Is this Elizabeth UNDERWOOD the mysterious and 'oft repeated' woman
said to be "Elizabeth TAYLOR/TAYLER/TAYLOE" that is suggested to
possibly have married the aforementioned (Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr.
and is there a possibility that this might have actually been a marriage
of
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD before the marriage and the divorce of same
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD from James TAYLOR/TAYLER, M.D., prior to
her marriage to (Captain) Francis SLAUGHTER, Sr., then to her next
husband, (Colonel) John CATLETT, and then married Amory BUTLER.
As I know the info, it was the son of (Captain) Francis SLAUGHTER, Sr. and
Mrs.
Elizabeth UNDERWOOD TAYLOR who was named Francis SLAUGHTER, II/Jr. who
married Margaret HUDSON and their son, (Colonel) Robert SLAUGHTER, I/Sr.,
married Frances Ann JONES, (daughter of Cadwallader JONES, (do they
connect
to the JONES - ASKE - LIGHTFOOT family of England?,) and their son
who was
(Colonel) Francis SLAUGHTER, born: 1701, married Ann LIGHTFOOT, born:
1708,
(daughter of Mary CHEW and Goodrich LIGHTFOOT, Sr., son of Anne
GOODRICH
and (Colonel) John LIGHTFOOT, III, born: Bet. 1646-1648, (who was the son
of
(Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, II/Jr., born: 1622, (immigrant mentioned above
as
son of Elizabeth PHILLIPS and John LIGHTFOOT, I/Sr., Esquire of
London,
Middlesex County, England.
And just to recap all of this info:
Is it possible that this Elizabeth UNDERWOOD married
(Captain) John LIGHTFOOT, I/Sr. as her 1st husband?
And is it possible that the family of Cadwallader JONES is
related to the JONES - ASKE - LIGHTFOOT families of
Stoke Breurne, Northamptonshire, England and
London, Middlesex, England?
And is it possible that the ARUNDEL couple buried next
to (Reverend) Richard LIGHTFOOT and wife,
Mrs. Jane ASKE JONES LIGHTFOOT, are related to this
couple?
(New information from LIGHTFOOT researcher,
Larry W. CATES now bringing into focus the ASKE family
connection on the LIGHTFOOT research list.)
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might be able to assist with
this.
In advance, I thank you.
Sincerely,
Bellinda Myrick-Barnett
