Once you get to Franklin, Habersham, Madison, and then on to Walker county,
we have it covered. These are our Catletts who came from across the Broad
River in York Co., SC (first records were of land purchases in 1803).

Karon, it's both the John Catlett and William Catlett we cannot track and
about whom we know nothing from before or since that puzzle me.
See the article on Burke at this link:

John Christensen's collections puts this John as the son of John of
Fauquier
(William, David, Nicholas, Col. John, etc.) and states he died in
Burke
CO.,
GA. I can only suppose the William in the Burke Co. Liberty Boys may
have
also been the brother of John.
John and William -- father(s) unknown and relationship to one another
unknown,
in Burke Co. GA by 1774. Oh good, more "fatherless" CATLETTs. :)
Hopefully John will speak up...
I have John Catlett (b. ca. 1695, d. ca. 1730 Prince William Co., VA);
received 358-acre land grant (part of Brenton Tract; located now in Fauquier
Co., VA, very near the Prince Wm. and Stafford Cos. borders); land passed
to
his son John Catlett, Jr, probably through probate in Stafford Co. (John's
will and inventory of estate apparently recorded in Stafford Co., VA Will
Book
K). I believe there are further references to this property either in
Fauqier
Co. and/or Pr. Wm. Co. court order books or will books. I've not gone back
through those records, but expect to in the next few weeks.
John Catlett Jr., died between Feb 1778 and Mar 1778. Gave equal share of
358
acres to sons William and Alexander Catlett; son John left a token benefit
(one shilling).
John Catlett (3) may have gone to GA, with Stubbs noting that a John Catlett
entered a land record there. John Catlett Jr.'s will does not refer to John
(as a loving child) in the same terms as the other children. [Was John cut
out of the estate because of a rift or had John Jr. already provided for his
apparent eldest son?].
I looked at the 1820 US Census for Burke Co., GA today.
Found:
Polly Catlet
Males = 2-0-0-0-0-0-0
Females = 2-0-0-1-0-0-0-1
I don't have the age categories handy, but am assuming that's 4 children
under
the age of either 5 or 10, one adult female 20-30 and one female under 70.
Didn't see any other Catlett in this census.
Joy Henning (today) reports the following:
Burke Co GA
Elizabeth Catlett listed in the 1798 tax index in Burke Co District 4 p 1-B
John Catlett listed on a list of names disapproving a protest to the Stamp
Tax
- Sept 28 1774.
Also on the list is William Callett which might actually be Catlett.
