Hi folks --
I'm pleased to announce that Kenny "Ken" Hedgpeth has agreed to take on the
CATLETT and CATTLETT message boards. (Mega thanks, Ken!) The latter board has
*one* message on it -- or did the last time I looked. There is no
corresponding e-mail list for it.
Ken, as I recall, descends from the branch that went into the Carolinas and
Georgia and from there, everywhere. They probably have Virginia roots and
perhaps someday this group of researchers will help piece that puzzle
together. His e-mail address: jokenot(a)earthlink.net.
As for the list. Folks, I'm not going any where.
For those who were on the list when the GenConnect boards were around may
recall that we occasionally received e-mails on this list that were passed to
it from the GenConnect boards.
I decided to turn that gateway off shortly after the merger of the GenConnect
boards with the RootsWeb mailing list. I made a dictatorial decision on
turning the "feature" off. It wasn't working properly at the time and was
causing the list administrators (me, in this case) more headaches than any
good that may have come from it being turned on.
The broken pieces of the gateway were fixed in the late summer, but I chose
again, not to turn on the feature.
I expect that I will reverse that decision after the first of the year. And
with Ken's help, I hope that we can make it work the way it was designed. We
will need your help though in making it work right.
I will put together some instructions so that you all will (hopefully)
understand its function and your role in making it happen. And hopefully Ken
will post something to the board giving the board posters (especially those
not subscribed to this list) an idea of how their messages will be shared with
the members of this list. (I don't think we'll be able to gateway messages
from the CATTLETT board to this list though, unless we get the aid of the
programmers at Ancestry -- and that ain't likely to happen any time soon).
Now, let's get back to CATLETT (CATTLETT or CALTETT or CATLEHT) genealogy.
If you've never posted to this list or if it's been a year or more since you
have -- please do so in the coming weeks. (And if you post regularly, don't
hesitate to jump in).
Happy holidays to all.
