Forgot to mention that Heritage Quest has the Stubbs book on the Catletts.

Here are more free sites I use.
1. Mocavo - mocavo.com I sometimes use
mocavo.com, a genealogy search engine. There
is a free and paid version...I just use the free one.
2. PA State Archives Land Records - If you are searching for PA land records 1750-1850
try the PA State Archives at
http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/state_archives/2887
It takes a while to figure it out, but there are original land warrants, Rev. War bounty
lands, etc. and once you find the warrant number in many cases you can get a picture of
the original land plat. You have to search for a surname from alphabetical lists A-Z but
again, well worth the effort.
3. archives. org - this is a good place to find old books
4. heritagequest -
heritagequestonline.com - If your public library subscribes to this it
is free if you enter your library card number. They have some census records for free,
some Rev. War records, and some county and family histories.

Subject: [CATLETT] Looking for Helpful Genealogy Web Sites (Free or Subscription)
I'm looking for some additional Web sites/portals tha might be of use to
us in our genealogical research pursuits.
Ancestry.com (Subscription required)
Fold3.com (Subscription required; does Ancestry actually own it or is it
a separate entity?)
=====
FamilySearch.org (LDS Church's genealogy portal; with many URLS pointed
to Fold3 and
Ancestry.com for "real" documents)
Rootsweb (basically the free side of
Ancestry.com; mailings lists,
message boards, search engines for Rootweb files, lists, boards)
USGenWeb (free)
Google Search Engine
Google Books
West Virginia State Archives' digital library
Maryland State Archives' digital Library
Virginia State Archives' ditial Library
State of Missouri - digitized vital records
=====
Can you add any suggestions or any sites beyond what I've listed?
What online resources have helped you in your research efforts?
TIA
-- Karon
